Peter

Okay, so this weekend was a very interesting one, that ended better than I could have ever imagined. Let me explain.

I went to the Green Day Concert on Friday, you can read about that below. What am I supposed to do after the best concert ever? Go to sleep? No. So naturally I went to Cherry Pie with my friends. Haha, there were lesbians everywhere, but I had fun with my UM friends. Somehow during the course of the night, Danny and Blake started to make out. That cascaded into a very crazy orgy of French kissing among the members of SpectrUM. I have lots of pictures that I plan on uploading to Flickr soon. Anyway, I was particularly impressed with this boy named Dan. He is an engineer and has a certain charm that I was attracted to. I made out with him and we ended up hooking up. (no, I did not have sex with Dan) When I woke up the next morning, Dan was next to me and I realized that I would never be waking up next to him again. It just didn't have the right feeling. But I think he's really cool and want to stay his friend.

Anyway, within 12 hours, I was on Cate's web of UM hookups, a piece of paper Chris Fisher is very happy to be absent from. I wasn't too happy to finally be on the web but I got over it soon enough. On Monday, the boys from UCF came down to UM to set up and carry out the Kids Come First display. It's thousands of toys layed out on the ground - pretty cool. Two of them, Peter and Chad, were planning on staying the night to have fun, and they did. We finally found a place to hang out: Max's room until his roommate came back from studio. Someone went and got booze and those that drink got drunk. We all had fun singing and dancing and yelling and talking and flirting in Max's room for about 4 hours or until 3 in the morning. Somewhere during that night, Peter caught my attention. He is already on Flickr.

Every time I looked over at Peter, his eyes would flirt away from me, having obviously been focused on me the immediate moment before. And I consequently did the same. Somehow the chemistry was just right that night and we were instant friends. Nothing physical happened that night, though I really wouldn't have minded, at all. They stayed in Chris's room until they left for Orlando the next morning. Peter and I currently talk online a lot, and we are making plans to see each other before I go back to SC (it's so weird to think about that). I got into an argument with some of my friends and I must clarify that a relationship with Peter is highly improbable. It is the fact that a relationship is desirable with him that allows me to make these plans in the first place.

Okay so finally, we found a way to put Chris on the web temporarily until I hook up with Peter (who hooked up with Chris at the FSU conference, haha). Peter is connected to a Chris in Daytona, who is connected to a Jared in Daytona, who is connected to Chad, who is connected to Rob from UM. That puts Chris Fisher on the UM web in a very round about way, but in a way none-the-less.

Some conversations I had.

This post will consist mainly of a compilation of a few confersations I had this week:

First, why I think coming out is so important.

PatchCR: i know this is probably too early to be asking this but do you think that her coming out will or has changed your paradigm?

Marlena Mitrik: idk too early...it helps knowing that shes my friend and she knows that i'm a bit uncomfortable with everything so that i won't have to hear any gory details

PatchCR: well I think you'll find that you feel smarter in a couple of weeks. maybe you could call it more worldly. but my experience is that over time you'll grow into a more comfortable place, you may even find yourself defending the gay and lesbian community from very ignorante biggots from time to time.

PatchCR: there's soemthing different about having your close friend come out.

PatchCR: something absolutely terrifying about the prospect of coming out to a friend.

PatchCR: and something very powerful about having your best friend come out to you.

Next we have a conversation talking about the amazingness of the Green Day concert I went to.
Jeremy McCullough: Anything interesting happen with you lately?

PatchCR: Green Day was Last night

PatchCR: amazing

Jeremy McCullough: Cool, did you enjoy it?

PatchCR: OMFG, there is very little I can say to explain the experience

Jeremy McCullough: Haha, that's good. Any highlights?

PatchCR: um.. lol

PatchCR: lots

PatchCR: they started off with a pink bunny dancing drunk on stage

PatchCR: so random but so cool

Jeremy McCullough: lol

PatchCR: and then they played american idiot

PatchCR: he pulled a kid out of the crowd to spray the crowd with a water gun

Jeremy McCullough: Haha, cool

PatchCR: then they also got kids who can play instruments to play them on stage

PatchCR: it was awesome

PatchCR: Billy Joe was like, "do you swear you can play? Swear to god? hey, do you know him? Can he play the drums? okay, Get up here"

PatchCR: and it worked pretty well

PatchCR: drums, a bass, and a guitar

Jeremy McCullough: Haha

PatchCR: the guitar player got kissed on the lips by Billy Joe, and he got to keep the guitar. "Oh and you can keep the guitar. so you can practice. Cuz you SUCK"

Jeremy McCullough: lol

PatchCR: then Billy did some crazy stuff with his guitar

PatchCR: behind his head, in front

PatchCR: he really can play, its cool

PatchCR: haha, they did some neat crowd tricks

PatchCR: the wave, screaming wars

PatchCR: haha... and he mooned us

PatchCR: it was funny

PatchCR: lots of fire and bangs

PatchCR: GREAT music

PatchCR: they did a cover of "Shout", you know "a little bit softer now"

Jeremy McCullough: Yep, I know that one

Jeremy McCullough: Jeremy hasn't been to a concert in awhile. Never with friends, though. Haha, I need to go more places with friends! Ahh...but my job.

PatchCR: they were on the floor for like 3 minutes until "little bit louder now"

PatchCR: it was funny

PatchCR: most of the other band members had weird costums on like a pencil through the cranium, or a bra, or a pink hat, or king's cloak during that song.

Jeremy McCullough: lol

Jeremy McCullough: Sounds very interesting, haha

PatchCR: quite

PatchCR: haha, he put his hands down his pants and kina "touched" himself for a couple minutes.... i can't remember why tho, some odd reason having to do a crowd pleaser ;-)

Jeremy McCullough: lol

PatchCR: haha, as he was introducing the band members he made a big hoopla of it

PatchCR: and then he introduced himself and "George W Bush"

PatchCR: the crowd bood

PatchCR: and so he said "I'm just kidding, I'm a&&hole"

PatchCR: there were tons and tons of 10-15 year olds there

PatchCR: running around everywhere

Jeremy McCullough: My...

Jeremy McCullough: Little kids ruin anything.

PatchCR: nah, it was funny

Jeremy McCullough: Haha

PatchCR: the kid he pulled onto the stage for the water guns was only 12 or so

PatchCR: and he got to lead the crowd in a sway, it was neat,

Jeremy McCullough: lol
See wasn't that fun? Haha, it was easy too. I just have to cut, paste, and proofread. Get used to these types of posts, they should be coming more often.

What will it look like?

In other news, I've had the priveledge of contemplating the end of the world recently. My english teacher had me read an article about the dangers of GNR (genetics, nanotechnology, and robots) and how they will probably be the demise of humanity. Just prior to this assignment, I listened to an audiobook called Collapse by Jared Diamond which was all about collapsed civilazations, collapsing civilizations and how our civilization is in grave danger of collapsing. My next english paper will probably be all about the end of the world but here is a little primer.

We have a few routes to go, although I believe in reality we will combine all of them into a jumble that has about a 50/50 probablility of erring in favor of our survival as a species and a small probability of reaching utopia.

Actually before the gruesome stuff, I'd like to say that there is a cool book that I was turned on to by the article on GNR. It is actually about how our idea of utopia has changed throughout time. Originally we wanted Eternity by dying and joining "heaven" in an unknown and unspecified utopia. Then we moved to a more rational utopian ideal where the Greeks thought we would create a perfect city and Liberty would flourish. Later humans noticed the power of the market economy (based on the idea of liberty) and it's exclusive nature so they imagined that a utopian society would hold Equality above all else. In Jacques Attali's book he describes a fourth utopia which I find fascinating: Fraternity. Bill Joy says Fraternity's "foundation is altruism. Fraternity alone associates individual happiness with the happiness of others, affording the promise of self-sustainment." Just contemplate this for a moment and you will realize a couple things.

Ok, I've given up on doomsday, we're going to talk about utopia based on Fraternity.

The first thing I notice when I think about Fraternity's base of altruism is that altruism can also often be considered the foundation of morality. Actually I've read recently that several atheistic theories exist for the foundation of morality, but I will argue that while we may not found our current morality on altruism, we should. In a society where we base our happiness on that of others, we will be immimently connected and ultimately moral. The puzzle pieces fit quite well in my eyes. The only thing I have to contemplate is how to get there. I guess I should read Attali's book (called Fraternités).

Bought a Camera!

Tonight around 3:30 in the morning I decided to go ahead and purchase a camera from Newegg. It is not the camera I originally said I would get. It is slightly larger but with the same lens and megapixels. The only difference is that it is much faster than the other camera. I'll post a picture of it for ya'll.

Here ya go

Crazy Links

Okay, so this is my first real post in a long time. I have couple funny links to share with everyone.

This lady will be publishing a book. wow.

I think that the cashier should not only lose her job but also have to buy the guy's son a new stereo. (that works) click here

Also, this will affect my blog readers, as I am currently in the process of ordering a digital camera. I think i'm going to get the Pentax S5i sometime later on tonight. My intention is for it to arrive sometime this week so I can take it to the Green Day concert.

David's convo

My second convo with David in a very long time. woo hoo. I like that he's talking to me again.

4/9/05
kornsk8er41: have you ever read, or do you know anything about, The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck?

patchcr: hmmm, no

kornsk8er41: my dad is telling me he wants me to read it

patchcr: sorry, i will take a total of 1 english class in college and i'm almost done with it

patchcr: why?

kornsk8er41: no idea

kornsk8er41: said he'd talk to me about it tomorrow

patchcr: he just randomly said that?

kornsk8er41: not completely random

patchcr: so what was the reason why he said it?

patchcr: it sounds like a religiously righteous book

kornsk8er41: oh it does talk about religion in it some

patchcr: but i'd actually have to look it, which i haven't done

patchcr: did you read it?

kornsk8er41: i read the chapter names

patchcr: oh, ok

patchcr: lol

kornsk8er41: and read a review on it

patchcr: did he give you a copy?

kornsk8er41: yeah

patchcr: lol

patchcr: you do know the full title is "The ROAD LESS TRAVELED : A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values and Spiritual Growth"

kornsk8er41: yeah

patchcr: spiritual growth + traditional values = protestant goal

patchcr: the new psychology of love sounds like buddhism

patchcr: so who knows

kornsk8er41: i may get a good laugh out of this book

patchcr: but its definatly centered around religion

kornsk8er41: i haven't mentioned my views on religion to people here

patchcr: well, obviously, i'm sure he would have given it to you much sooner if he knew your religious views

patchcr: he's just probably thinking you'd like it, or that all teenagers need spiritual encouragement. idk

kornsk8er41: he thinks i need some kind of encouragement

kornsk8er41: because he's "worried" because i don't go out every weekend and do stuff with people

patchcr: well, i think i'd be worried as well, but from my perspective i understand why.

patchcr: heck i live in miami and i'm not going out this weekend

kornsk8er41: what i don't understand is he kept telling me he didn't go out much when he was in high school, and his mom got mad at him because he'd never talk to her about why, yet the whole time he's telling me this, he's sitting there bugging me about why i don't and why i dislike people here

patchcr: i don't know what to say
